Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of our frequently asked questions. If you need more information, contact us.

Q. I'm not a student. Can I still participate in Food Cart Kickstart?

A. Yes! We started Food Cart Kickstart originally with students in mind.  Since then, we have had just as many non-students inquire about our program as students.

The Food Cart Kickstart program is open to anyone who wants to participate.

Q. How much am I really going to make?

A. Food Cart Kickstart clients who work their carts as a full-time job can generate over $100,000 in revenue each year.

On average, our student-clients produce a revenue over $1000 per 3-day weekend during the school year. They end up with a net of $500 per weekend. For those without much of a business vocabulary, revenue is the total in sales, the net is what you will put in your pocket after the cost of food, propane, help, rent, and other expenses.

In one semester of putting $500 in your bank every week, you'd end up with about $8000 in your bank account or $16,000 by the end of the school year. Not too bad for three days per week.

The amount of sales you make will depend on how much time you put in, your location, and how efficient your business is.

Q. Do I have an option to buy my food cart?

A. We give all of our clients the option to be on a purchase plan.

If this is something you want to do for a long time and feel that ownership of your cart is your best option, we can help you create a more custom program to fit your needs.

Q. I'm not a business studies student / major, can I still sign up?

A. Of course! Two of the founding members of 3T, LLC were not business students.
Part of the beauty of this program is that anyone can do it.  Even if you don't know the first thing about accounting, logistics, management, or marketing, you can and will succeed.  In fact, some of our most successful clients are non-business majors.

Food Cart Kickstart offers packages that will supplement any concerns you may have about your ability to run a business. Check them out on our Program Page!

Q. What if my business fails?

A. To date - none of our clients have failed and none of them have ever lost money. It will be extremely hard for your business to fail with Food Cart Kickstart consultants at your back.

Most importantly, since we provide most of the expensive assets to your company, you will have not dumped in thousands upon thousands of dollars. If for whatever extreme reason your business goes under, you will not be out much - if any of your own money. Part of the beauty of the program is that you don't have to put much money in to make it work - reducing your risk greatly.

Q.  Can more than one person run a food cart?

A. Yes. In fact, some of our clients are Student Organizations! They use our program in place of a fundraising committee.  You may also structure your business to be a partnership if you wish to.

Q. My parents are very skeptical about this...

A. And they have every right to be. There are plenty of scams out there for every type of business and service.

We are a very unique organization with a non-traditional (but award winning) business model. In fact - you should be skeptical too! So we encourage you to do your research on us and our clients (some found under Success Stories). You can always use the Contact Us form or give us a call! (989) 400-3830.

Q. I'm afraid I won't have time. What if I'm a full-time student? What if I have a day job?

A. We understand that you have school, a social life, or a family life. Our team has been there. 12, 14, 18, or even 20-some credits deep into a semester can put a damper on just about any activiy outside of school.  It would be almost impossible to be a full-time, engaged student and run this business by yourself.  Fortunately for you, Food Cart Kickstart has programs that do most of the legwork on the back end of things. No, we can't run your food cart for you, but we can hand you every single thing you'll need to make it run.

One of the beautiful things about owning your own business is that you determine how much you work. Maybe running a cart will be a hobby, a side job, or even a fun venture for you and your friends! Remember that you are in control, and work as you see fit.

Q. What if I don't have a good idea for a product?

A. That's fine! We have an assortment of awesome, successful products to choose from. Our client's love to share their success with each other on our private networking website, so you'll be sure to either pick out or concoct a great menu for your food cart!

Q. I've never been a good cook. Can I still do the Food Cart Kickstart program?

A. Of course! You don't have to be Bobby Flay in order to make this happen. If you don't feel like creating your own product or recipes, we have plenty of best-selling, easy recipes for you to follow!

Q. Why do I need to apply?

A. Food Cart Kickstart is dedicated to ensuring that our clients businesses are as successful as possible. Part of the process we use to ensure that success is making sure that we invest our time and energy into both the right people, and the right places.
So many people apply - and we have a limited number of food carts. We just need to make sure that we select the right people for the job in order to maximize revenue for the students.
